It's also fun when Grandma comes

It has been so long since I last posted...well folks, hold on to your hats because you can expect several new posts about our recent trip to Hawaii.  That should give you something to look forward to.

But Hawaii is not the purpose of this post.  This post is to inform you all that we were fortunate enough to have a quick visit from Justin's mom last month.  It turns out that she has an iPad as well, which Colton has happy to take full advantage of.

She also had a suitcase, and there is really nothing this boy likes to do more than push a suitcase (or anything for that matter).

Thanks for braving the bus from NY to come visit us!

It's always fun when Grandpa comes...

...because Grandpa brings his iPad with him.

Can you see the resemblance?

"Hey, what are you guys doing over there?  Did Grandpa put the iPad away?  Grandma, you got any more of those cookies?"

Yay for a visit from Grandma Louise and Grandpa Cole!

If you read Colton a story

If you read a Colton a story, he's going to want you to read him another one...

And when you read him another one, he'll probably want it to include a mouse in some way.

And he'll want to make sure he points to the mouse on every page  (why do so many kids' books randomly include a mouse on every page?).  And when he's found all the mice, he'll probably want you to start over and read the whole thing again.

Even if he's really tired.

And here's a cute shot of Justin just for kicks.

Colton's handywork

One is never enough

You can never have too much of a good thing.  Case in point: Wearing one pair of jammies is great, but adding one around your neck and on your head, and suddenly you become Mr. Super-Jammies!

One binky makes my life worth living.  Three binkies...now that is really something!!

Dear Sixty Degrees

Dear Sixty Degrees,

I have missed you so much.  Having you back in my life--even if it is short-lived--makes true happiness possible.  (I'm not saying you can't be happy during the winter, but no matter how great life is, it would always be better if you were here.)  We went outside today.  Without coats.  Anyway, I just wanted to thank you for visiting us in February.  You are welcome to stay as long as you want.

Love,
Bethany

The Trick...

It turns out the secret to an ideal flying-alone-with-a-toddler experience is sleep deprivation (not benadryl as some of you may have suspected).  Despite the fact that we had an early-ish (10:30 am) flight on Saturday, Colton decided it would be best to wait up for me to get back from book group (by some miracle, book group was postponed a week so that I was actually able to attend.)  I don't think he (or my mom who was babysitting) anticipated that I wouldn't get home until midnight.  Oops.  The poor little bug was so sleepy the next day that he slept practically the whole way home, thus making a very enjoyable flight for me and everyone around me.

Note: There is a good chance that extra sleepiness could result in extreme grumpiness.  Use this method at your own risk.

Also, I may still resort to drugging him on the 8 hour flight to Hawaii in April...
