Most of the Virginia/DC/Maryland natives that I talked to were not so excited. In fact, many were flying away for the long weekend to avoid the crowds. Justin and I were not planning on going anywhere near downtown until we got a call from our friends Nate and Ashley Morris on Monday night offering us their tickets to the event the next morning. How could we possibly pass that up? We couldn't. So despite the fact that I did not have the day off, we went downtown and participated in history. And then, we walked home on the HOV lane of 395. It was pretty sweet. Thanks Nate and Ashley!! And good luck President Obama!!!
We were pretty darn close to the Capital. (About 20 feet behind the reflecting pool.)
And on the way home, we took a couple lovely pictures from the side of 395. It is such a fantastic view of the Jefferson Memorial, but there are usually cars rather than pedestrians on this part of the road so this particular shot is not normally available.

Coming in July, this little kumquat will no doubt take over everything. We are very excited to announce the expected arrival of baby #1 sometime around the 26th of July. Wahoo!!

Congratulations!!! I'm so excited for you guys!!! How are you feeling? Brooke spilled the beans about your good news to me today when I was on the phone with her and I came to your blog for confirmation! Yay!
It's neat that you got to attend the inauguration. Very cool. You live in a cool place! And I'm so excited about your babe. Yay!
Can they tell whether your baby is a girl or a boy - we're very anxious to start a betrothal agreement! Maybe we can give our boys growth hormones!
The baby is darling - even in ultrasound!
Yayayayay!!! Babies are the best! I bet you find out what you are having soon!
Your baby will be such a sweetheart! Congrats!
How patriotic! I don't think Chad would have let me attend, historic and all though it may be. And oh my gosh I cna't believe you are having a baby, that is sooooooo exciting! I can't help but think aug. 3 would be perhaps a better day for a baby...
WOW!!! Exciting!! YAY! Congrats!! :)
I've been meaning to say congratulations! So...CONGRATULATIONS!! Yay! Love all the pics! But you guys still don't look like you were as cold as we were on our NY trip. ;)
HOORAY! You two will be the cutest parents. I am thrilled for you both! I hope you're feeling ok. Keep us posted on all the fun things going on in your lives! When will your talented man start hand-crafting the crib for the little one?! jk. Are you two coming to town for the dinner honoring your Dad? We just got the invite in the mail. Your dad is Pretty impressive!!
Yes, I know, this is extremely late. When Jon told me I was hyperventalating (sp?). So so so happy for you (for going to the inauguration, that is). I'm not that funny... Obviously we're so excited over your pregnancy. You know Jon and I would love to babysit anytime. Love you guys!
Wow! Bethany! Congratulations! That is so exciting! You need to call me about stuff like this! And I need to call you too! How many exclamation points can I use in one paragraph? Did you get my message that I tried to send you a Christmas card, but apparently I don't have the correct address. Send that along if you don't mind. Yeah for you guys!
